What is monitored with IAQ Safe

IAQ Metrics

There are five main metrics to determine Indoor air quality

A blue cloud with the letters co2 written inside of it.

CO2

High CO2 levels often indicate poor ventilation within building spaces, poor ventilation is what airborne viruses such as Covid-19 thrive on

Improve your ventilation today to reduce CO2 levels and the threat of Covid-19 alike

It has been scientifically proven that exposure to CO2 will have adverse effects on occupants of buildings

People will suffer from headaches, lose concentration and can even become unconscious if very high levels of CO2 are inhaled

Volatile Organic Compounds

Volatile Organic Compounds are found throughout indoor spaces within buildings. They are common gases that are given off during the use of everyday cleaning products, air fresheners and pesticides.

They are considered harmful to humans in specific quantities and cause issues such as skin irritation, headaches, and loss of concentration and even liver and kidney damage

Particulate Matter

PM2.5 and PM10 are the most common particulate matter metrics used for IAQ. They refer to inhalable and fine inhalable particles found in droplets of air.

They can be dirt, dust, soot or smoke and are often invisible to the naked eye. The issue with PM2.5 and PM10 is they are inhaled by humans and can cause serious health problems if exposure is long term

Ambient Temperature

This is far more about building occupants comfort levels whilst within a buildings space, however it can also lead to health problems if exposure to high or low limits is abused by users or employers.

Ambient Temperature indoors should be between 15°C and 35°C

Humidity

Correct levels of humidity are imperative within indoor spaces. Extremes of high or low humidity will cause adverse effects to many users of an indoor space.

High humidity can cause asthma, allergies, dust mites and bacteria such as mould spores.

Low humidity causes the same issues along with spreading viruses more easily and respiratory failure. Indoor humidity should be between 40% - 60% RH

How does the technology work?

Below is a simple diagram showing how the remote sensor network connects together with the LoRaWan network. Sensors send data to the gateway(s) on site. The gateway then sends on that data via the cloud to our User Dashboards, within our bespoke customer data portal.
